Pilots-N-Paws
originated in 2008 when a small group of people came together to
help the thousands of animals in shelters and rescues across the
United States. Often the animals coming into rescue are required to
be transported long distances from the rescue point. The
transportation might be required due to medical needs, available foster
homes, or to get an animal to its new family. Some of these animals are
required to be transported hundreds or thousands of miles requiring
many vehicles and people joining together to accomplish the goal of
getting the animal to the final destination. If a pilot was
available the time and people required could be dramatically reduced.
Pilots-N-Paws is comprised of both individuals involved in
rescue and pilots willing to volunteer their time to help transport some
of these animals in need. A forum board has been established at http://pilotpaws.flyimc.com/ Please visit the forum board to find out what animals might currently be needing transport and what pilots might be available. Transports will be accepted on a pilot by pilot basis. Currently, a system is not in place to coordinate flights with multiple pilots. The forum board is a central location for both pilots & rescues to post their information. When a transport is needed by a rescue the information regarding the animal needing transport should be posted on the forum board under "Ride Board: Animals Needing Transport." If a pilot is available for the dates and area the transport is needed for they will then respond to the rescue coordinating the transport. Rescue agents can also check the pilots that have registered on the forum board to determine if any pilots are available in their area, if so the rescue agent can contact the pilot directly to see if they can be of assistance. Please visit the Info for Rescue link to see the minimum information needed by the pilots. Pilots should post their information, including location, type of transport your plane can accomodate, and flight limitations on the forum board under the "Ride Board: Pilots Volunteering Services." Pilots can visit the forum board to find out what animals might currently be needing transport in your area and use the contact information posted by the rescue agent. Breaking News:
