Pilot Jeff Bennett 9 saved! Louisiana to Florida Rescue

This transport started in the Florida Keys as I picked up my neighbor, Lee Hughes, who is adopting the Basset Hound. He was acting as my co-pilot for this trip. We departed Marathon airport at 7:45am eastern time enroute to Marianna. We arrived at 9:30am Central time and met up with the Pensacola ground transport that brought us 9 dogs/puppies. We loaded the group and headed for Tampa where we delivered the American Bulldog, the Beagle and the two non-black puppies.

We then headed to Naples to deliver the 4 black puppies to the Paws Assistance group. These puppies will be evaluated to see if they will join a program that trains dogs as service/therapy dogs for returning soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. What a great program!! (They will take Labs, Lab/mix and Golden Retrievers puppies and older stable dogs of the same breeds for Therapy dogs) START SENDING!! Any puppies that are not chosen for the program go to the Naples Humane Society for adoption (No Kill).

Our last stop was back in the Florida Keys as Louie the Basset arrived at his forever home with Lee and Leslie Hughes.
It was another great transport! Thanks to everyone involved from the Bassets foster in Galveston, TX to all of the people involved in driving these dogs/puppies east.

  2. Hi Jeff-
carole DeHart here from teh EAA in Marathon…On Staurday we are supposed to head to Orlando from the Keys to pick up a rescued puppy we are adopting. What would be involved in asking you to fly us up to pick up our puppy?
If you could help us that would be wonderful….

    Thanks Carole DeHart
