Pilots N Paws

1 man, 1 plane, 1000 Animals Saved We Love You Scott!

Today is a very special day.  Pilot Scott Messinger transported his 1000th, yes, you read that correctly, one thousand animals!

Scott and his helper!

Some people have a calling, not just a mission, and Scott’s calling is to help animals in need whenever possible.  He has flown to every state in the north, northeast, midwest, south, east, southeast and even as far as Texas.  When you live in Pennyslvania that’s a lot of air miles!

Up you go!

Because of him, 1000 animals were given the opportunity to find loving homes.  Doggie kisses are worth millions and Scott has a fortune banked in puppy kisses alone 🙂

Dobie pup gave lots of kisses!

He is very modest and will be the first to tell you it is the rescue volunteers who do the hard work, he just flies the animals.  But we all know that if not for Scott, and pilots like him, the number of animals rescues could take in would certainly diminish.

Always a smile !

We love you Scott ! Thank you for your endless passion, your sense of humor, your dedication, and for making so many flights that have now saved 1000 lives.

The plane says it all 🙂

Here are some “Scottisms”

Big dogs deserve to live too!

Keep finding us dogs (any size) and we’ll keep on truckin’

I’m in !

I hate an empty plane, it’s such a waste of life !

Works for me !

Its a heartwarming (and unfortunately sometimes heartbreaking)
experience flying these dogs to safety.

Very very cool!

I’m absolutely LOVING the response we are getting when we pull into an airport

Sometimes we all forget to give thanks for all our blessings…until we meet those who truly sacrifice…

Every now and then a certain rescue stays with you…This is the one for me.
Forever….

(special thanks to co-pilot Jeff, amazing coordinator Terrie, Scott’s amazing family and the many rescues and shelters who work together to save lives….)

We love Scott in Bowie Maryland as well. Hardy our 14 yr old blind and deaf cocker was one of Scotts 1000. He brought him to us back in March and if it had not been for PNP and Scott bringing him to us, he would have gone to Rainbow Bridge before his time. Now Hardy is a happy little guy getting lots of love and snuggling. He is such a wonderful little guy and we really love having him as a part of our family. Thanks Scott for making that happen. You’re a true hero to us!

  2. barbara segal says:

what an amazing man.The Indian legend say that when we die, all the animals we ever met wait on the other side of the rainbow bridge to decide wether we deserve to cross or not. Scott will have a huge army of doggys to hold his hand.

Scott…what an inspiration you are!! One man, one thousand animals – AMAZING!! Oh how I would love to go with you on a rescue sometime. Just added that to my bucket list – lol!! I thank you for all that you do and know all those lives that you saved will never forget your scent! You give unconditional love back to those who give it so freely! It warms my heart that you generously give ALL of yourself to those who have no voice and no choice. Thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of those who truly deserve it.

Your organization is fantastic, Ken Clayton pilot, helped save a husky for me by flying him from Los Angeles to Grand Junction, CO. – Thank you so much Scott and Ken and all pilots who help save lives !

  19. Kathy Kwieran says:

I think what you do is great and applaud your efforts, but I see one thing that disturbs me. I noticed that you have not helped any cats. Are they not worthy or what? The percentages of cats being killed in shelters is always more than dogs, so I believe they need more help. I have a cat that needs to get back to her owner because the husband she divorced dumped it at the shelter. She is in California and I am in Texas…this is a senior cat that I have had for several years and cannot adopt because of her age. Besides she needs to be back with her family.

    Reply to Kathy:
Hi Kathy, yes we have helped many cats, bunnies, potbellied pigs, chicks, snakes, lizards, eagles, parrots, etc. If you scroll through the older posts here you will find a cat transport stories. We do not choose who asks for our help, pilots just reply when they can assist. We are an equal opportunity organization for all animals, well those that can fit in a small plane and are within a reasonable distance!

  20. Wow, my kind of guy, you got what it takes ! Great job, you hero !

  21. a true angel … had heard a lot about scott … had the unexpected pleasure of meeting him just a couple of weeks ago when he happened to stop by my booth at a local craft show …. such a lovely, humble man … thank god for scott and all those who assist him in his efforts to save these precious innocent animals in need! …. as a mom to five rescue dogs (all adopted AS seniors), i say “congratulations scott, and from the bottom of my heart …. THANK YOU!”

  22. Beth says:

Well done – we do rescue over here in Australia but don’t think anyone is flying them around in small planes. The commercial planes do but I don’t think anyone does special trips just to help out animals.

I am sure all the animals appreciate everything you do too!

  23. Lauren says:

God Bless You! Where are you located?

  24. Rose says:

Thank you Scott for loving another life so much that you donate your time and air plane to assist those wonderful animals in need. You are truly one of the angels in the sky here on earth.
    Thank you

    Rose

  25. Margret Wrennstad says:

I don’t live in America, but if I did, I would probably be one of those to whom you would transport a rescue dog or cat. I’m happy to know that there is ppl like you.

THe first time I heard of Scott was yesterday when I received word that the dog I had been trying to get out of Lousiana to his new home, was on Scott’s flight.

When I saw the pictures of Wasabi headed home, Scott, Jeff, Terrie, and the beagle plane, I just cried.

Maybe for some it’s routine…for me I had no idea how we would ever pull this off. i got invested in saving a dog and in the ensuing three months (?) had some times when I thought it was never going to happen.

Maybe he was the 1000th dog…Cesar Millan says every dog comes into your life to teach you something about yourself. This dog taught me to have faith, to trust that there are GOOD people working hard, and to keep hoping.

Jeff, Terrie, Scott, Pam, and all the supporters of Pilots n Paws, this mission is so much bigger than you know!!!

  27. Dorothy McDevitt says:
