WAVE STAFF REPORT
Local pilots have been among several nationwide to volunteer for the Pilots N Paws and Great Escape Rescued K9 programs, which help animal rescue organizations.
Each year, the volunteers of Pilots N Paws save thousands of lives. Those lives come in the form of any animal that can be transported using a plane. Dogs, cats, pigs, reptiles and rabbits are just a few who have taken one of their flights.
Dianna Stanger and Mike Solomon began a recent Pilots N Paws flight from Calhoun County Airport with a mission to north Texas to transport two dogs. The first, a four-year-old German Shepherd named Sista, was transported to Cleburne. The second dog, Buddy, was rescued from a kill shelter in Arlington on the return flight.
