Smiling Through the Scars

Tennessee pilots Gene Perkins and Will Tomlinson picked up Willis the cattle dog in Rome, GA and delivered him to Christina Curtis, his temporary foster mom, in Greenfield, IN.

Christina, Willis, Gene and Will

Willis was a stray, rescued from the street by a kind woman after he was attacked by other dogs. He was at animal control and on death row in Georgia when volunteers got his story out via Facebook. Several people on Facebook came together to save him, volunteering money and time.

An Atlanta man also offered to pay most of his veterinary and boarding costs at the North Broad Veterinary Clinic in Rome, GA. It took a village to get Willis off of death row. His destination was a foster home in Minnesota, where he will be up for adoption. Another PNP volunteer will flew him from Indiana to Minnesota.

Playtime at the ‘layover’ in Indiana.

Coordinating Willis’ rescue was very gratifying for those involved. His wonderful spirit has touched many people from across the country. The rescuers knew he had facial wounds and scars, but didn’t know their extent until he arrived in Indiana.

Priceless – Smiling through the scars

Perhaps he would make a great therapy dog for kids who have been bullied or people who have been disfigured.
