Some Inmates Get Paroled
Joy lives on a farm in California. She found a perfect companion in Oklahoma with what turned out to be a very colorful journey.
Roscoe was saved by Bounty Hunter Vicky from a high kill shelter in Oklahoma. This shelter only keeps dogs 7 days. If not for two prison inmates who volunteer at the shelter hiding him and erasing his name off the kill list for over a month until they got caught, then begged Vicky to save him before he was to be put down the next morning, and Vicky acting quickly to save Roscoe (now known as Mikey), he would not have a story to share.
Roscoe says “goodbye” to his prison inmate handler. Moments after this was so sad and tearful when Roscoe was led away to go to his furever home in Temecula. Roscoe was in the program there where the prisoners volunteer at the shelter and save some of the shelter dogs by putting them into training with an inmate. It’s a win win situation because the dogs are more adoptable and the inmates learn to train and yes…even love the dogs as this man loved Roscoe.
Roscoe, now turned Mikey with his parole, was taking his first few legs by ground transport. Hanging Judge Liz took Mikey to Santa Fe, New Mexico. Liz had a rough journey. The inmates at the Dept of Corrections spent their entire week’s wages, bought and FED MIKEY 2 DOZEN hot dog wieners! He revealed this several times. Liz was a a real trooper and handled it all with grace.
Air Marshall Bill, Deputy Marshall Janet & Hanging Judge Liz who gave Mikey a Full Pardon for having been wrongfully incarcerated in prison in Oklahoma. This was the prisoner swap so to speak. Hanging Judge Liz passed Roscoe to Air Marshall Bill and Deputy Marshall Janet for the 2nd leg of the trip on to Phoenix, Arizona.
Carissa is Mikey’s (aka Roscoe) favorite guardian at the half-way house. His stay at Pete & Mac’s Pet Resort was a gift from Gay, wishing Mikey (aka Roscoe) well in his transition from prison life to his new life at Canine Country Vacations ranch with Joy in Temecula.
Jail Breaker Joy, Pilots n Paws volunteer – Air Marshall Bill, and Pardoned Parollee Roscoe (now Mikey) still in his prison sweats. Bill flew him into Thermal from Phoenix. This after driving to Santa Fe during stormy weather to pick him up from Hanging Judge Liz!
Brent, Mikey & Bill. Mikey is free at last!
Mikey rides in the hay buggy down to the pasture to feed the horses on his first evening at the ranch that will be his furever home.
Mikey meets Sundance.
Yep, finally home at last.
