Some lucky dogs will be flying high Thursday night out of Lee Bird Field, and hopefully on their way to a new home.

Fur The Love Of Paws had the unique opportunity this evening to fly three North Platte shelter dogs, to an animal rescue in Lincoln, Nebraska.

They’re working in conjunction with Pilots N Paws, a nonprofit organization of plane owners willing to assist with the transportation of animals.

Organizers say these animals have a better chance of getting adopted in rescues in cities like Lincoln.

“For these three, they did okay in the shelter for about a month, and then it was time to reach out to others and try to get help for them. All of us work together for the good of an animal, it’s so exciting to come together and meet new people, and after something like this, it just really rejuvenates your hope for all the animals out there that need help,” says Jenn Porter-Milne, Fur The Love Of PAWS.
