The River Valley Reader published the following story on November 26, 2012.

Vickie the pug dog has had a great change of fortune in the past few months. Her outlook was grim; she was homeless and suffering from a fatal disease (heart worms). Now, thanks to a lot of caring people and three different organizations, Vickie has a clean bill of health and a new name. More importantly, she has a new home. The home is far from the River Valley, but she’s going there in style.

Vickie, re-named Myrtle (to go along with her new sibling, “Beach”) took her own chartered flight to South Carolina from the Russellville Airport Saturday with the help of Pug Rescue of Northwest Arkansas, Arkansas Information Resources, and a volunteer pilot with the group Pilots N Paws.
