FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Pilots N’ Paws and Florence County 24608561_BG1Environmental Services hosted an airlift operation event for local animals on Saturday at the Florence General Aviation Center, on the grounds of The Florence Regional Airport.

Most of the animals came from Florence County Environmental Services, and the rest came from Williamsburg County. Approximately 52 animals, three cats, and two dogs are being shipped to Florida, and stopping in Augusta, states Herbie Christmas. According to an environmental official, the animals will all be going to approved adoptive homes.

24608561_BG2Florida has a spay and neuter law, so most of the animals will be adopted. For the past two years, Florence County has transported the animals on ground, and this is the first time they will be using Pilots N’ Paws, which is free of charge, states Christmas.

SO glad to see animals in SC counties being helped. They NEED help. ;o)

This is an Outstanding service, but the pilot’s time is volunteered & the cost of the fuel for the transport are always aid at the pilot’s expense.

It would be benefical if a non-profit organization could be set-up to cover the costs, so that MORE pets could me saved and not be euthanized.
