Throwback Thursday! Flying Buster/Bromley: PNP Rescue Flight 12/26-12/27/13
Catching up: Buster was an energetic Lab on death row at the Tyler, TX animal Shelter. Somehow, Michelle Sackos in Fort Meyers, FL came across the boy online and decided to adopt him. Buster had to be moved immediately.
Fellow Houston area Cessna Cardinal PNP pilot Dave Massey and I picked up Buster in Dave’s C177 after flying transports to two destinations near Dallas (my 20223 was having a landing flaps issue repaired). We stopped off at Tyler on the return and picked up Buster. I drove Buster home and boarded him overnight.
On 12/27/2013, Buster and I departed Pearland Regional Airport (flap issue fixed [temporarily, it turned out]) in 20223 for a flight to Covington, LA for a hand off to Pilots N Paws pilot Mark Molina. Thanks to Mark and PNP pilots Sean Fitzgerald (overnight foster due to weather) and Jeff Bennett, Buster, now Sir Bromley, was delivered to a new life. Michelle has been gracious in providing updates. Here’s the latest one (Buster goes to college! in Tallahassee with her daughter).

Update: Buster goes to college!
Hello Pilot Angels,
I hope this email finds you well. I have been very sad now that my daughter and Sir Bromley are off to FSU. My last day with him was spent with a long walk in the morning, a night sleep in the car because he would not lay down in the hotel room. He wanted to lay with me. We slept on the way to Tallahassee while Kaytlynn drove us.
We arrived, and I walked him around the apartment. Introduced him to his new toy box filled with all new versions of his favorite toys. We bought him a snazzy new collar with a bow tie and a very sophisticated new tag. He has more food and treats than the girls do! lol! I gave him a squeeze and rubbed his ears before saying see you soon.
As I turned around with tears streaming down my face, I could see his little head watching me through the window wagging his tail. Yesterday was the first day I got up and started walking again. It just doesn’t seem right without him. I see his favorite tree a half mile away that he loved to walk to several times a day even after our long walk. His bowl is still on the floor, and his couch is still next to my side of the bed.
Even though I miss him so much, I am so happy he is a little piece of home and a lot of protection for my Princess. The holidays will be fun, they will be coming home! We are planning a visit in a few weeks. I can never repay you for the unbelievable generosity and love you shared with a complete stranger to help a beautiful soul meet a broke hearted little girl. I am going to start an animal sanctuary and promote the open heart love Bromley blesses me with every day. No matter what he had been through, he still loves with an open heart. You cannot find a more deserving soul 🙂
Much love and hugs to all of you,
Michelle & Sir Bromley
