The Eagle Has Landed!

Hi Pilots N Paws,

The Staff of Nanjemoy Creek Environmental Education Center, a Charles County Public School site would like to thank Pilots N Paws for transporting our new Bald Eagle from Four Lakes Wildlife Center at Dade County Humane Society in Madison Wisconsin to Southern Maryland.

Especially pilots Mike Green of OH and Wes Johnson and Jim Reed of MD who saw to her safe journey to Maryland on Saturday, February 09, 2013. The less than a year old immature female Bald Eagle left WI with Mike and was transferred in Zanesville, OH to Wes & Jim who took the second leg of her journey to Maryland Airport near Bryans Road, MD.

It was dark when she arrived in Southern MD and was met at the airport by Center Director Paula Batzer who drove her to her new home, so the pilots could not really get a good look at her to see who thy had just delivered.

Because of the dedication of Pilots N Paws volunteers, thousands of school children in Charles County will visit with her and learn about our National Symbol and the importance of protecting and conserving our native wildlife.

On Wednesday, February 13 Pilots Wes and Jim visited our Center to see her in person in daylight. They also met Maryland Independent newspaper reporter Sara Taylor who wrote the nice article at the link below. Pilots N Paws is mentioned in the article.
