How to post when you are flexible on the destination

Post by Laura TRRN » Sun Nov 13, 2011 4:06 pm

Hello, new to PNP. I am affiliated with a small 501c rescue. We are exploring options for getting a dog out of a shelter in Barnwell, SC to a foster home in Leesville, LA. Since this is too far for one pilot, we are checking with how far the foster home is willing to drive, in hopes we only need one pilot and do ground the rest of the way. What is the best Topic indicator to use in this situation. Barnwell, SC (with zip) to as far as you can towards Leesville, LA, with details in the topic?

Thanks!

Hi Laura,

In order to make your request on the Ride Board: Animals Needing Transport, you must have both sending and receiving zip codes or you cannot post your request, the forum will not let your post go through without two zips.

You are correct, this is too far for one pilot. Most are only in a position to fly 250 nautical miles. If you can shorten the distance on either end with the sending and receiving willing to drive a certain distance then I would use those points as your zip code points. If they cannot, then use the Barnwell to Leesville zip codes and hope that more then one pilot is able to volunteer to assist you. You can then mention in your message that you are working on getting drivers or having the foster drive to a certain point for pick up. It is always advisable to have temp fosters in place along these longer routes in case the weather turns inclement and a pilot is grounded. Hopefully you can find all the volunteers you need.

Thanks for all you do for the animals
