PNP Flights Through Civil Air Patrol

Post by rdhawa01 » Wed Sep 14, 2011 4:42 pm

Hi -

I just read in CAP magazine on Civil Air Patrol conducting ARF/PNP flights back east, (NY area) and I was wondering if there is an MoU available for conducting similar flights (Pilot 'n Paws) via Arizona Wing here. I can take this up with my Wing Commander later this month and hence please advise.

A little research shows that an MoU is a Memorandum of Agreement.

Since Pilots N Paws ("PNP") is not participating in the arrangements or planning of these flights, PNP would not be a party to a Memorandum of Understanding. These flights are coordinated between the rescues and the pilots, so I suspect any MoU would be executed between the CAP and the rescue.

Please note that ARF is not affiliated with PNP, and operates differently. I suggest you contact ARF with the same questions.

HI Ruhil.

Thank you for your offer to discuss an MOU with your commander. As Steve, pointed out , Pilots N Paws does operate differently as each pilot works directly with the rescue organizations asking for their help. That being said, we do have an MOU with the ASPCA and what it basically does is it outlines what each group does in case there is an extreme need for us to work together on a large scale. For example, if they had an animal hoarding case, a natural disaster, etc., it is outlined how we expect to work together is possible. It does not mean we cooridnate the flights but it does mean we have a point of contact person and we do what we can to help and let our pilots know.

If your group is interested in something like this we would be open to discussing this. Please let us know by sending a private email to [email protected]. I apologize for my delay in responding, glad Steve did, thank you Steve....I was consumed by the logistics of our awarness event that took place last weekend. 174 dogs, one kitty and 40 planes takes a lot of management but it was so worth it to see all those tail wags and hold that little kitten!
