Hi, I saw the clip on nightly news and am very interested in the black and white border collie. I lost my Buddy in 2008 after 15 and 1/2 terrific years would love to know more about this one.
I am so glad to have found something like this. I love what you are doing!

My name is Denise Wright, and I live in Fayette, Alabama. While I'm not a pilot, I'm a huge animal lover. I would love to help in any way possible. I read in an earlier post, Debi, that you are in the process of forming a new flyer. While I feel as if I don't have a LOT to offer, I would like to offer my editing skills, in addition to MS Publisher skills.

I would also like to volunteer my time in possibly assisting pilots in the flights they make. As a teacher, I'm off on weekends, during Spring Break, during the summer, etc. (though I do have a second, part-time job that I'd need to work around). I would gladly drive to meet the pilot(s) if that would make things more convenient. Animals, especially dogs, LOVE me, just as I love them. Perhaps the best thing I have to offer your program is my compassion for animals. I often say that I have the biggest heart in the whole world!

By the way, I just now heard about Pilots N Paws via tonight's NBC Nightly News (mentioned in this thread), and I immediately looked you up on the 'Net and joined. Had I known about your great organization earlier, I would have joined long ago!

Please don't hesitate if there is ANYTHING I can do to assist your organization. Also, to any other forum members who might want/need to contact me: You are more than welcome to do so! I look forward to hearing from you.

Most sincerely,
Denise Wright

Tasha and Tsuki are doing great - they have not been adopted yet - we are looking for the perfect forever home so that they will never be taken to a kill shelter again. Thank you Jon and Debi for all the hard work you do. A lot of my praise for your organization was cut from the clip - I realize you can only get so much in 1 minute and 58 seconds ;) Thanks also to 4Tom - Virginia and MuttsMom - Nancy for their help in getting transport together. For those of you interested in adopting Tasha or Tsuki you may go to www.biar.petfinder.com and complete an application. You may email it directly to me at [email protected]. They are located in Statesboro, GA Tasha has been spending time with 4Tom and Tuck so I am not sure if she is going to let her go ;)

Thank you to all who have a part in keeping these beautiful animals from being put down because there is no way to get them to safety. If only people would be more responsible pet owners - may you would just be flying the dogs for visits to Grandma :D

God Bless You All,
Carole

Denise,

I'm also in AL, Huntsville to be exact. There are a lot of BC's/BC mixes, and of course every possible breed and mix you can think of in kill shelters in AL. If you'll e-mail me, I can explain the pulling, transport by land, even if to get the dogs to the airport the pilots will be using. I do more BC/BC mixes then anything, and sadly there are a lot of puppy mills for BC's in No. AL and TN, so there's always a need for more help in AL.

Thanks to everyone that saw the program and realized what those of us who have been working with PNP to get animals to rescue, before they are put down, learned from the 1st day we had contact with them. They are an awesome group of men and women, who share the love of animals with everyone in rescue. They go by, Pilots N Paws, but those of us who have seen their work and have been involved with them already, to save lives, think of them as, SKY ANGELS

Thanks Jon, Debbie, Brandon in GA, Jeff in FL, Jeff in NC, Brent in TN and all the other pilots that give so much to make more rescues possible. One day I pray people will "get it" and spay and neuter their animals, so millions aren't put to death every year, because there aren't enough homes or rescues to save them all, but it's a great feeling knowing with PNP aka Sky Angels, we can help more.

Ya'll are the best!!!!!!

I caught the news clip on the internet.

I fly every week or two just to stay current, burning holes in the sky with little else to show for it other than a logbook entry.

My wife shows Irish Setters and we've been part of Irish Setter Rescue for years, but I didn't know this organization existed until I saw the clip.

I immediately signed up.

Now I can fly and help. Thanks to everyone involved in this organization....

Great story tonight on the nbsc nightly news. Thanks for all you're doing. One of the best dogs we ever had was a shelter dog. Shelter dogs deserve a chance to find a good home and you're providong them another lease on life. My wife said during the broadcast that we need to make a donation. Thank goodness for the internet - we found you and will be sending in a donation. God bless you! :)

In case you are wondering how a rescue and flight take place, here is the link to Tasha and Tsuki's story. It is long, and involves the help of many people. It is just an example of how much work, effort and cooperation goes into saving shelter dogs.
