Number of animals being transported: One male dog
Breeds, weight, age: American Pitbull Terrier, 63 pounds, approx 2 years old
Health Condition: Bait dog - urgently need to get him to Denver to his rescue group and specialists.
Heart worm Status: unknown
Vaccinations: none but can get DHPPL and rabies as needed
Health Certificate: can get one from local vet confirming he can fly; vet said the sooner he can get to the specialists and foster in Denver, the better.
Spay/Neutered: No
Special needs:Yes - he was a bait dog and has several puncture wounds to his head; he is on antiboitcs and anti-inflammatory meds; injury to back foot; malnourished. He is very friendly with people; we are unsure about other dogs and have not been able to test him due to his injuries.

Are you a 501c3: Yes
Additional Info/situation: We are located in Artesia, NM but can easily transport him to Albuquerque, NM (87106) or Santa Fe (87507), NM or Roswell, NM (88203). This boy was found in Artesia, NM. We are positive he has been used as a bait dog; he has both old and new injuries consistent with dog fighting. He has also had one of his back feet cut off. Apparently this practive is used to incapacitate the bait dog and also to intice "blood scent" to intice the fighting dogs to fight the bait dog aggressively. He has been rescued by Evergreen Animal Protection League in Denver, CO area. They have arranged for him to see experienced vets and specialists immediately. The sooner we can get him up there, the better for him. Ground transport usually is a 2 day trip and we are afraid it will be too stressful for him. We welcome all help and suggestions. I do understand that this might take 2 pilots/2 trips and am willing to do whatever is necessary to make it happen. Thanks! Cindy Perini
