One option here would be for Brandie to fly as far eastward as she can and bring the dog back to Billings. I would fly from Lincoln to Billings, take the dog from Brandie, and bring him back to Lincoln. With proper timing this could be done in one day during daylight hours. I could then either overnight the dog in Lincoln and fly him to Kalispell on the next good weather day, or probably preferably, the forever home folks could drive down from Kalispell (2 1/2 hour drive) to pick him up from me and take him home that same evening. Or they would be welcome to spend the night with us before returning to Kalispell if needed.

If a southern route is used I can do Idaho Falls, iD to Butte, MT. This could be by air or or car as conditions require. I am available most days. Alternately I could come east to about Rock Springs, WY to meet a west bound transport.

In such a case, I could do the Butte (BTM) to Kalispell City (S27) leg.

Thank you all! I am calling and emailing mid west pilots as it seems Mt and Id are covered but I didn't get any midwest offers. I will get this going somehow. This poor dog is on his last chance! He was adopted out twice and returned in a weeks time. He is fabulous but has separation anxiety :( this move will be to his forever home. This woman fostered him and then moved to MT but wants to tske him back for keeps.
Thank you!

I'm not sure I understand. It sounds like you are still trying to do this, but you have marked it as Done. Are you going to use another means of transport?

I'm based in Schaumburg, IL and could help. I would be willing to fly to Indy and pick him up, or if someone else gets him to the Chicago area, I could head westbound to Des Moines, La Crosse, or points in between. I can mostly fly on Sundays.

I can pick the dog up in Iowa (Ames would be a good location) and deliver the dog to Western North or South Dakota, or Eastern Montana if needed. I am available this weekend; if the weather won't cooperate, I could possibly go the weekend of the 22/23--will have to get work coverage. Due to the length of the trip, could a temporary foster home be found somewhere along the route if only a segment or two could be completed?

I think i have it worked out if this Saturday could work!
Drive dog Indianapolis IN to Chicago (unless can find flight).
Gene Woods flight- Chicago to Ames IA
Xcflr flight- Ames IA to Rapid City SD
Bjemmett(Brandie) flight-Rapid City SD to Billings MT
Jerry Cain flight-Billings MT to Kalispell (Jerry can overnight in Lincoln)

Questions:
Route okay for pilots this weekend?
Saturday...I need to get a driver to Indianapolis so I might need overnight in Rapid City area.

Thoughts in route?
Thank you all so much for help!

Before you say that his will work, you need to develop a schedule for each leg and handovers. It won't be possible to get this all done on Saturday. For ground transport you need to figure travel times and pick-up and drop-off locations and any needed overnights. Also remember that for most legs, the transporter is most likely doing a round trip, not just the leg, which may impact the ability to do the leg. For air transport you need to figure flight times, pick-up and drop-off points, needed overnights, and the fact that some pilots won't fly at night (me for one) and won't fly in bad weather (me again). That's why I said that if I were to pick up in Billings MT I would probably fly to Lincoln MT and overnight and then do the final leg the next day weather permitting. For me to do the whole round trip in one day requires 6 hours of actual flying plus on-the-ground time. We only have about 8 hours of daylight right now. This time of year, the ability to fly is very weather dependent for most of us, not all.

Once you have developed the leg schedule from start to finish, everyone can sign-on or not as they are able. Otherwise, this isn't going to work. Here are the legs as you have described them:

Indianapolis to Chicago
Chicago to Ames IA
Ames IA to BIL
Billings (BIL) to Lincoln (S69) (2 hours one way)
Probable overnight in Lincoln
S69 to Kalispell (S27) (1 hour one way)

Allow 15 to 30 minute handover times. Also, by the time we do this, everyone will need the contact info (cell phone number) for eveyone doing the legs for coordination, etc.

Hope this helps.

We will need to get an approximate timetable from everyone. In Billings, weather looks good for Saturday but not so good for Sunday. I can foster in Billings in necessary.
