Additional Info/situation:

These 2 GSP brothers were surrendered to the shelter when their owner had to enter the hospital for cancer treatment. They are said to be very friendly, but not doing that well in the shelter. One of the brothers has split his tail open due to the small confines of the kennel.

These boys need transport from a shelter in the Sacramento area to CA GSP Rescue near San Diego. Transport can happen anytime from Tues May 27 - Sat 6/1. There is flexibility on the pick-up/drop-off. We can get the dogs anywhere they need to go in the Sacramento area and can receive them on the other end anywhere from Ventura, CA to Vista, CA. We have volunteers on both ends who can help with the transport, just need the big leg in between from Northern California to Southern California.

Thank you!

I am available to transport the two GSPs. I'm based in San Diego and would fly up to get the dogs. Proposed transport dates are Saturday, June 1 or Sunday, June 2. Proposed southbound routing is Sacramento (airport not yet determined) to McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad.

All is tentative at this point, as there are variables to consider once I know that you are interested in this transport. Please advise, and I will begin planning on this end. Thank you.

Thank you!

June 1 or June 2 will both work for pick-up of the dogs, with a preference for June 1 since that will mean we don't have to board them overnight. But either way works. We can get them to any airport in Sacramento that is convenient for you. And we can definitely have them picked up in Carlsbad, that's perfect for us. Just let me know the timing that works on either end and I'll coordinate with local volunteers.

If you would like to chat via phone, you can reach me at 760-953-5835.

Thank you again!

Marty and Cheryl
Not sure if this can work but there's a dog in Lancaster (Michelle posted) on the board that needs to get to Livermore, I'm based at Swansboro( just north of Placerville) and could get the dogs here to Livermore if Marty could pick up in Lancaster and end up in Livermore. I always figure the more we can move each way the better and Saturday would work for me
Let me know

Kim - This would be fine for us, but not sure it works for Marty given his flight plan. I'll let him chime in.

Marty - I have a request out to our volunteers in Sacramento and will update you as soon as I have a plan for you.

As this will be my first Pilots n' Paws transport (although I fly with my own dog often), two GSPs will be enough for me. Additionally, the day promises to be vey hot and, once airborne, I don't want to land until arriving at (cool) Carlsbad. - Marty

Marty, I'm going to go ahead and mark this request as done, and I'll call you once I have confirmation from volunteers about Saturday.

Good idea, Cheryl. You might also tell the volunteers that the flight is subject to mechanical problems and weather. I don't foresee any problems at this point, but I won't have a clear "picture" of the weather aloft for Saturday until Friday morning. As you can imagine, this is a big consideration for general aviation aircraft. There is currently a warning for turbulence throughout the route of flight, but it appears to be diminishing as the week progresses. I'll let you know Friday morning after I talk to the FAA weather briefers.

Hi Marty,

I'll call you tomorrow to chat, but since it's late, I thought I would send some of this stuff to you ahead of time.

The dogs will be staying overnight in Shingle Springs (west of Placerville) on Friday night. I will have a volunteer pick them up early on Saturday and bring them to you at the airport at 8am. Looks like there is an airport right next door in Cameron Park. Any airport in the Sacramento area works, though. Just let me know.

I will make sure they come with harnesses, leashes and all vaccination paperwork. Let me know if you think of anything else you will need.

Once you let me know where in Oceanside/Carlsbad they'll need pick-up, I'll confirm a volunteer for pick-up around 12-1pm on Saturday. I'll give you phone numbers of the volunteers on either end of the transport just in case, but you can always call me of course.

Talk with you tomorrow and thanks so much again for your help!

Cheryl
