Photo taken in June.. emaciated pup showed up at the door
As I do not always receive notifications of postings here.. please email me at [email protected] and refer to HUNTER TRANSPORT in the subject line.

I want to start by saying thank you to all my friends here for the overwhelming support and words of condolences and wisdom. Not going to lie, these past few weeks have been devastating for me. I'm still not quite right (although really never have been) things will never be the same around here without my Old Brown Hound. Horrible hole in my world.

Of all the transports I have done, this is the first time that I have ever requested help for me, and it is a bittersweet transport for me. It is also very difficult for me to ask.. this is an adoption to a forever home (me) from a private party that tried to do the right thing by a stray back in June.

Some background; this pup showed up as a stray on this woman's doorstep, emaciated and filthy mid June. They tried to find his owners and had no luck so she reached out for help on one of the facebook sites. Anyway, she 'friended' me, and followed advice on the breed, but just feels that she is not the right home for him. She loves him very much by the way.. but GSP's can be a tough breed for the uninitiated.

Anyway, she saw that my Old Brown Hound died and she emailed me that while she loves him; she would like to give him to me as she can't give him what he needs. I was astounded as well as touched. There are no monies being exchanged here.. it's just one family trying to do the right thing by the stray that they took in and love and this old hag that is trying to heal.

Not going to lie; it was a long few days here, but then a friend in rescue reminded me that there is no better way to honor my Wingmans memory than to help a hound in need. I would like to also believe that my Old Brown Hound perhaps knows that this pup that is currently digging to China, tearing up the furniture and ripping out the Mums, is exactly the kind of flunky that he was at that age.

POTENTIAL ROUTE:
(flexible of course)
AGC~70N (Allegheny County~Spring Hill) <213NM>
70N~PYM (Spring Hill~Plymouth Municipal) <213NM>

As this is a collective effort of multiple pilots, even if a leg has been 'spoken' for I would still need to connect the dots as such;
If you can assist, can you please reply with:
The days you are available to fly
Your home airfield identifier
The leg you can help with or the alternative route that you can assist with?
And given the weather of late: WHAT YOUR REQUIRED MINIMUM IS

Passenger Information:
Hunter
German Shorthaired Pointer
8mos approx
Male
38#
Traveling with: Health Certificate and vet records, rabies tag, certificate, collar, toys, food for contingency HARNESS AND LEASH

Thank you all so very much for your consideration and again, thank you all for your emails and well wishes.

What a NICE (but skinny) dog! I wish I were closer to help with this!

Thank you Allan,
I wish you were here too!

I can't help believe that this scrawny pup showed up on her doorstep for a reason back in June. She had no intention of keeping him, but wasn't going to throw him out on the streets either. You should see their yard.. looks like the face of the moon and they still love him LOL

Not going to lie, I am nervous.. not one viable offer of assistance as of yet.. and you know me, I like to have all my ducks in a row by now LOL

Hi Liz,
I sure hope you get some help for this, you certainly deserve it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some helpful pilot(s) will step up to the plate and deliver the home run for you, especially since the trip from Pittsburgh to MA is not that far.

Liz,

Kristen and I would be glad to do the 2nd leg. We're coming from Hartford (KHFD), and could be in the Wilkes-Barre area after 7pm on Friday or anytime Saturday before 2pm. 1000' minimums. Let's get Hunter home!

Andris and Kristen THANK YOU!!

I can't begin to tell you how much it means to me that you would consider helping me.

I would like to aim for Saturday if possible, but it is a moot point if I can't find a AGC pilot that can help..

Ideally, mid morning 70N (or thereabouts) but again, can't say without having another pilot to hand off :(

Thank you so much again for replying. I will call you/email soon with good news I hope

I have an idea. Can you consider AGC or even better (a little shorter) for my leg, Latrobe, LBE to POU, Dutchess County Airport in Poughkeepsie for the Saturday flight? Then POU to PYM? POU is my home field. POU to PYM is about 142nm and that would make your leg a lot shorter as we'll. I'd like to fly this as early as possible on Saturday.

So, if I read this correctly I would fly POU to AGC (or if possible, preferably LBE) then return back to POU with the dog. Second leg would fly HFD to POU, pick up the dog from me, then POU to PYM then home to HFD.

Let me know ASAP. I have a kennel to keep the dog in but need to keep it when I do the transfer at POU.
