Additional info/situation: Aussie Jolie has been adopted by a woman in Oklahoma City, OK. She is 82 years-young, has had Australian Shepherd's most of her life. She just lost her elderly dog and is very lonely. Her live-in grandson will be helping with initial training of her new dog.

The airport closest to her home is Will Rogers (OKC).

Aussie Jolie is currently residing in Southeast Missouri. Thank you for your consideration!

Here is the story of how she came to the Bollinger County Stray Project this past summer:

The call came that a beautiful Australian Shepherd was about to have pups. The owner seemed not to care about her. She was seldom home. Instead visiting the neighbors and they finally started to feed her. When she came into heat they asked the neighbor if he would give her up. He did not and so she had a litter of pups, birthing them in a wood pile and hiding them until they were close to 4 weeks of age. Then the owner gave her and the litter up. We found a rescue to take the pups when they were eight weeks old and now mom is ready for a home.

I can fly the first half. To...say...Monett, Mo or Huntsville, Ar.

Next Friday, 2/28 or Saturday, 3/1 would be good for me, weather permitting.

Will Jolie fit in a medium size crate, or will she ride OK without a crate? If so, I am available on Monday or Tuesday (2/24 or 2/25) for the 2nd half of the trip. I'm not sure if Tim or someone else can get her half way on Monday or Tuesday, but if someone can, I can get her to OKC. (I am out of town at the end of this week.)

Tim,
The TV weather is calling for mostly cloudy on Tuesday (2/25). So today would be my only opportunity. Let me know what you find out. Give me a call if we can work this out today.
Thanks,
Matt

The dog isn't ready yet today (and neither am I) and, as Matt indicated, tomorrow's weather isn't conducive for flying. Matt's leaving town for 10 days on Wednesday. Anyone else available later in the week to fly the second leg?

I could do the second leg from Monett, MO on Saturday 1st. Weather permitting. Is KOKC definitely the closest airport or just the only one that they know of in the area. I'd rather fly into Wiley Post.

I believe she's literally closest to OKC but I'm sure she'll be ecstatic if the dog makes it to any of the metro fields. I've been involved with this trip since before it was posted here (it's coming out of our local shelter) and she was originally willing to meet me in Joplin or Springfield so anything is better than that.

The weather looks somewhat iffy Saturday so we'll keep an eye on it. Please send me your contact info.

THANKS!

Well, it didn't go as planned yesterday but it went! Jolie got a new lease on life, a lovely lady in OKC got a new best friend, and we got to fly airplanes.

Life is good!
