Additional info/situation: Mom and puppies were scheduled for euthanasia. They had a foster however the foster let her cat in with mom and pups and mom got mad and went after the cat so foster packed them up and dumped them back at the shelter. They were due to be put to sleep today a noon. They are currently in boarding awaiting transport. Ground transport will not take such young puppies. The 4 week old pups were dumped on the side of a road and picked up by Animal Control. They are too young to stay in the shelter without a mom. They are too young for ground transport.

Re: mom w/8 pups + 3 GMU to KOQN
Hi Colleen,
Flights are even more stressful than ground transportation actually. Since pups can't regulate their body temperature and struggle with the altitude changes, it is highly recommended to wait until 8-9 weeks at least (plenty of documentation available online). In addition, the pups suffer from dehydration while in the air.
Happy to help on a first leg out of GMU but would highly recommend waiting a few more weeks as I personally won't take any younger than 8 weeks. I could do a leg from SC to Richmond for example.

Thank you Chris! Unfortunately there is no where for the pups to stay for a few weeks in South Carolina. Intake at the shelter has been unusually high, all local fosters are full as well as local boarding.

There is also an offer to take them from GMU to Lynchburg anytime between 4/14 and 4/17.

Re: mom w/8 pups + 3 GMU to KOQN
All,
I talked to Doug and Colleen, I DO understand the risk of having them stay at a "kill" shelter but would be cautious to transport them via air as explained above (body temp and dehydration).
I will be contacting local SC places to see if we can foster these precious guys a few weeks so they can reach 9 weeks and make it safely to their future families.

Thank you Chris. Hopefully they can get here within the next week as opposed to fostering/boarding but if not we will go with the foster if available. They are currently in temporary boarding at a vet hospital and the vet feels they are very healthy and would do fine flying. Once they do arrive to us they will be going directly to a vet who is fostering them.

I received the below email from the shelter on the black and white pups that they originally listed as 4 weeks old:
Ok, I will separate the invoices in just a second. The Gill puppies have already been spayed they are 2 months old. I was given their health certificate today!
