Date ready for transport: ASAP--Receiving rescue can only take from Sunday thru Thursday each week; no intakes on Friday and Saturday
Additional info/situation:

Beautiful Shepherd mix rescued by Lumberjack Rescue of Springhill, LA, had eleven puppies--all of which lived and thrived!! Three were adopted locally, with the remaining eight being taken into rescue by The Humane Society of Pinellas County.

Puppies are now at their "gangly" stage, with long legs and awkward bodies. They are about 15# each, give or take a pound. Believe we will need at least 2 of the medium wire crates (nearly square) or as many as 3 of the hard-sided carriers.

Would like to send these pups ASAP, as they will continue to grow by leaps and bounds at this age. Soon they will outgrow our ability to take all 8 in one trip and that would be a shame.

We welcome any suggestions as to route, etc. I haven't plotted it yet, but once I do, I will offer suggested airports and "legs" to see what we can get done.
Remember, rescue cannot take in on Fridays and Saturdays, so this has to either happen during the week or on Sunday. I know that will complicate matters but we will have to try to comply with their wishes.

My email is [email protected]. Feel free to call at 337-837-5930 (leave voicemail if no answer).

Hi Carolyn,

I may be able to help on this transport depending on when it makes. My best days are Wednesday and Sunday, I happen to be off this Saturday (normally I'm not) as well but both of my club 182's are scheduled to be out of town this coming weekend so I may not have a ride, assuming you can put it together that fast, unless someone cancels. That may happen due to weather if it is IFR. Keep me posted and I'll try to help if able.

Couldn't get this put together for tomorrow (04/23) so am hoping we can get them ready for maybe Sunday, 04/27. Shelter cannot receive on Saturday, so am shooting for Sunday as next available day.

If I can get these guys down to Marianna or Bainbridge, can one of you S. Florida pilots pick them up and take them to Clearwater or Lakeland? Clearwater is preferred but we can probably find a ground transport from Lakeland back to Clearwater.

These pups are growing fast, so the need is great before they outgrow their ride!!

Thanks,

Carolyn

Hallelujiah! Mike Young of Orlando got the ball rolling again for these pups and they will be headed out of N. Louisiana on Sunday (05/04), the Lord willing. Justin (rescuer) will take them to Monroe (MLU) where Jeff Wall will pick them up and take them to Bay Minette, AL (1R8). From there, David Littekin will take them on to Marianna, FL (MAI) and Mike Young will pick them up there and get them to Tampa Bay Executive (VDF).

It's been a long process to get these guys moved and we're thrilled they're on track to become Floridians now! They will be in the loving hands of the rescuers at the Pinellas County Humane Society, Clearwater, FL.

If anyone wants to volunteer as a backup for any of the 3 legs of this trip, please feel free to add a post.

Thanks, Carolyn

Yesterday (May 4) was bright and beautiful and the beginning of a new life for the 8 Springhill puppies.

A big "shout out" goes to Jeff Wall of Madison, MS; to David Littekin of Ozark, AL; and to Mike Young of Orlando who got these guys moved to Tampa. Thanks also to ground volunteers Joyce and Tillie, who met the plane in Tampa and transported them back to Clearwater where Pinellas County Humane is located.
Justin Thomas of Lumberjack Rescue facilitated the PnP trip by driving the pups from Springhill to Monroe, LA, to cut down on some of Jeff's air time. It gave Justin one last visit with the pups, whom he rescued when they were 1 week old.

The pictures from the trip were phenomenal. Mike Young did a nice album about his leg of the trip. Here is the link to it: http://youngpix.smugmug.com/Pets/May-4- ... &k=hfmxx6w
