Gainesville, Fl--Greenville, NC MISSING FOR 4 YEARS/ Found!

The Humane Society of Levy County, FLorida received a call for help from a local veterinarian. One of her techs observed a small sheppard mix female dog (30-35 lbs) hanging around the local WalMart parking lot and then across the street at a local supermarket. When she saw the animal walking along the side of a busy highway, she picked her up and took her to the vet office.

When they swiped her to see if she was microchipped they were pleasantly surprised to find she was and they contacted the microchip company to get information on the owners. This is where this story takes an unusual turn! The owners are located in Greenville, NC and lost their pet four years ago when the owner had to go to the hospital for 9 days. No one knows how the animal got from Greenville to the Gulf Coast of Florida. The Society has checked the lost dog ads in the local newspapers, with the local vet offices and county animal shelter to try and find the "interim" owner. Nothing.

So we are turning to PilotsnPaws for help in getting Minnie back to her original home.

Please remember to put the city and state in your subject line so that pilots can scan the board looking for their areas.

This is an amazing story, I hope Minnie is able to get back home after all this time!!

Stan, I received this message today. It appears this older girl needs medical care before she can be transported. The request is canceled for now but hopefully, "Minnie" will be able to fly in the future back to her original home.

Humane Society of Levy County, Levy County Florida.

Ms. Toni Collins made arrangements for a dog called Minnie to be transported to Greensboro, North Carolina. Unfortunately, Minnie needs some care because of her age and is currently at the vet pending heartworm treatment.

We greatly respect your work and we do not want to hold her place in line when you have other dogs in need. Please cancel Minnie and we will let you know when she is well and able to fly.

Thank you, Thank you, for the wonderful work you do.
