If this hug from the adopters doesn't explain why we do this, I don't know what else could. Many thanks to pilots Ed, Kevin, Denise and Dave for getting this girl to a real home; to Sandi and Theresa for ground support; to backup pilots Sam and David, and especially to Anthea for loving Gleda even before she arrived.

More photos to come.

Lynnette

Gleda is a 45-pound 9-month-old female Icelandic Sheepdog currently fostered in Santa Ana CA, with an approved adopter waiting in Okmulgee OK.

Depending on the destination airport preferred by a pilot, the trip is 1011 – 1080 nm, and will probably require 3 legs. Routing from Santa Ana is flexible, either northerly through Albq and Dallas or southerly through Tucson/Phx and El Paso. Ground support and fosters available along either route, including volunteers to deliver her to the originating airport and pick her up at the destination. Destination volunteer can travel up to 100 miles for the pick up.

Many thanks for considering our request! Please email me directly if you might be able to help, and I’ll contact pilots off-list too.

Thank you Ultrabuzzard.

Yes, most of the trip planning is complete. We will probably go 5C1 to KOKM, but I'll let you know asap if 5C1 to 52F and your 52F to KOKM would be better for this dog. The tentative date is Aug 29/30. I very much appreciate your offer!

Hi Scott,

I already have her from Santa Ana to Tucson to El Paso, and from San Antonio to Okmulgee, so only need to fill KT27 to K5C1 at this time. Thank you so much for offering to help!

Are you still good for the OKM leg of the trip?

I think so but will know for certain Friday. Even so, we could break down the last leg into two legs if you'd like to join us. That would be great! It will be mid to late afternoon on Sun 30th, coming to you at 52F from 5C1. Is your email addy the one in your profile? I'll contact you that way or you can email me at [email protected]. There are just a few more details to lock in.

I can go to El Paso on Saturday (August 29th) and meet Kevin to pickup Glena; she can foster overnight in San Antonio, and then we can head out Sunday for Roanoke. - Denise

Thanks, all! This trip is covered, as is a round-trip return to CA with another dog. Way to go!
