Hi Everyone,
I know this is extremely short notice, but we just found out yesterday that we have 4 puppy mill puppies that need to get from Wilmington, DE to Salisbury, MD on Sunday the 13th. I've been working on ground transport and haven't had any success yet. We normal only contact Pilots and Paws for our really long and impossible to drive transports, but I saw the PNP5000 email this morning and I thought I'd see if anyone was up for a short flight. All pups are small - 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and 2 Pugs. Because this is a puppy mill rescue we still don't have an exact time on Sunday that they will be ready to fly but I will post that ASAP.
Thanks for all you do!!!!
Jessie

Jessie,
I might be able to do your flight. I am waiting until 3p today (the 12th) to see if a prior commitment to CAP is going to be canceled.
Do you have any details yet?

John

We expect to hear from the woman who they are allowing into the mill to get the dogs tonight. She should know the schedule then. I expect that they will be ready to fly around 3pm tomorrow if things go as they usually do with this miller. I will definitely post as soon as I hear a definite. Thanks for everything!

It looks like the pups will be ready around 4:30 tomorrow and could leave any time after that. Let me know if that is a possibility for you or not.
Thanks again!

Jesse,
Would that be 4:30 at the airport? The earlier the better is best for me. I'll have to take out the back seat and would prefer to get back to my home airport in Ridgely (about 30 minutes from Salisbury) with some daylight left to put it back together. How old/big are the pups? I have a couple different crate arrangements I can do. My wife and I foster and do rescue and we have a collection of crates.

The puppies are very small, under 4 lbs each. They will fit in a pretty small crate. The crate we are using is about 30 in. I expect dianne should be able to have them to the airport by 4:30 but I have emailed her to be sure. I should hear back in the morning and I will be in touch right away.
Thanks again!

Ughhh...we just got word that they won't be letting her into the mill to pull the dogs until later. It looks like more like 6pm now. I don't know what your plane is like, but the pups are so small they could probably fit in a little crate on the seat so you wouldn't have to go to the trouble of removing it. I don't know if that makes a difference now or not. Let me know so that I can start scrambling for ground transport if I need to :(
Thanks again for trying,
Jessie

Jessie,
6 is workable. Sounds like I can leave the seats in place. My plane is a Piper Cherokee 140 and the back seat area is about the size of an old Volkswagon Beetle's, if you're old enough to remember them. I've never been to the Wilmington airport. I assume we're talking about New Castle ( ILG ) and we'll meet up in the vicinity of the main terminal. Give me a call when you get the details, 410-758-1969. My cell is 410-490-1873 but I live in a dead zone so call on the home number.

Thank you so much John for your wonderful last minute effort and your infinite patience with the delays. All pups have arrived safely and are currently running around like maniacs, gobbling down food and lapping up water. They all seem so happy considering what they've had to go through. We are headed for the vet tomorrow and I will send pics as soon as I have them. Hope you had a great flight home. Thanks again and take care!
