Transport for 3 puppies, Labrador Retriever/Shepherd Mix, 2 males, 1 female. Not sure of age but the shelter believes between 3-5 months old. All are around 12# each. Need to move from a high kill shelter and fly to PA rescue.

Shelter in OH can meet at Ohio University Airport, in Albany, OH. Or any other airports in the area.

In PA, rescue can meet at G.O. Carlson Airport (CTH), in Coatesville, PA.

Can move pups in two-three flights if necessary to remain under 300 miles for each pilot. Just need to know if a pilot can pick up in Albany, OH and let me know what airport he/she will fly to in order to help bring pups towards PA.

I can transport all the way on Thursday with Friday as a backup. I have a crate 21x21x28 that will fit in the back seat. Will two of the pups fit in that? If so I will need one additional small crate that will fit in the baggage compartment. Weight is not the issue. Space for crates is the concern. Do you have a small crate for the pups? If so what are the dimensions? I would pickup at OU Airport and deliver at Chester County Airport. I assume health certificates are available to travel with the pups. John Jorgensen

Hi John,

I can ask the shelter if they have a small crate to borrow. Maybe they can loan one and when you return to OU Airport, they can meet you to get the crate back. I will check to see if they can get health certs by today. I will assume it is too late to go today??

Sharon, I fly out of Frederick, Maryland so I won't be returning to Albany with a borrowed crate. Can I safely assume two pups will fit in the 21x21x28 crate? You are correct the transport will have to occur on Friday. John

Hi John,

Oh okay. I sent an e-mail to Ann re the crate size and if the 3 pups will fit, have not heard back yet. I will call her to see if I can reach her to find out. If an additional crate is needed and they let us borrow one, I will ship back to them. What time would you be arriving at OU Airport tomorrow and what would be the ETA for Chester County Airport.

Sharon, At this point I would plan on a 10:30am arrival at Albany (KUNI), a 11:00am departure and a 1:00pm arrival at Chester County(KMQS). These are subject to change due to weather but I will keep all parties informed of any changes and time of departure from Frederick, arrival at Albany, departure from Albany, and arrival at Chester County. The availability of crates that will fit in my plane is important. I cannot fly unless all pups are in crates and the crates fit in my plane. I don't want to fly all the way to Albany and find out things won't fit. John

John,

According to Ann, only two puppies would fit into the 21 x 21 x 28 crate and will be a "tight squeeze" (as she put it). She will look for a small crate for the 3rd puppy (which I will ship back). However, what is the maximum size for the small crate to fit in your bagage department area? I completely understand the importance of the crates and pups fitting on your plane. And, I also would hate for you to arrive and the pups/crates do not fit.

If it is okay, I will start sending you e-mails from our rescue e-mail: [email protected] to your personal e-mail at
[email protected]. This way I can work with communicating with you and Ann.
