There are more complicating factors involved in this transport than meets the eye. Safe haven would have been arranged since we have basset rescue contacts throughout the US.

This was an exceptionally long transport, far beyond the normal range of even a high performance aircraft. The best way to put together such a long transport using general aviation planes for this distance is to not look at it as a single run, but a number of sequential short leg transports.

With the successful completion of each leg, the next one can be done immediately, or ASAP, or whenever a pilot for that next leg becomes available. What is important is not to set up a run like dominos, so that any problem at any point knocks all the dominos over.

I'm sure there are reasons for any transport to stop or be rescheduled (I have one on hold now awaiting a pup to get beyond a health issue) but if there is anyway to make progress, even if it is one leg, take advantage of the opportunity. Rescues along the way provide that possibility, and from a pilot's point of view there is never a need to be feeling pressure.

The New Mexico to New Jersey proposed air transport has been canceled.
I've arranged a ground transport for Luke to come out to his forever home. The Kentucky puppy is another matter. We're still coordinating that effort separately. I am in communication with two pilots who have graciously offered to assist in that transport.

Thanks to all of you who offered to help fly Luke - our rescue is truly grateful for your willingness, time, and consideration. Safe flying.
