I am based in Frederick, so this would be pretty manageable for me. A weekend is easier than a weekday, but weekdays aren't entirely out of the question. It looks like it would be about six hours round trip in my airplane.

You can e-mail me at to help discuss the details, or telephone me at work at (301) 695-2186.

If someone has a small to medium-sized crate of puppies that need to go in a similar direction and could ride in the luggage hatch, that would be just about ideal!

The very happy ending to this story is that, after three weeks, the dog's rightful owners were located!

Because we were starting to plan the details for the PilotsnPaws transport, I decided to give a "last call" to humane societies and vet's offices in the area where the dog was found on Dec. 28th.

Somehow, in three weeks, the biggest humane society in our area failed to match the owner's "lost dog" report with the original "found dog" report! Since the dog had been seen being thrown from a car, many assumed she was not wanted. But after fostering her, I couldn't imagine anyone not wanting such a sweet, well-mannered dog. Then I noticed a surgical scar - someone had spent a lot of money on very expensive and fine orthopedic surgery on this dog. That renewed my resolve to be absolutely sure there wasn't somebody out there looking for her. The terrible people who had thrown her out of a car were not the dog's owners!

A wonderful reunion happened this afternoon and Ruby, the German Shorthaired Pointer is back home with her loving family. They were overwhelmed with gratitude that she had been well-cared for and safe these past three weeks and very thankful to have her back.
