8 Dogs from Roanoke VA to Salem MA

Post by waneta » Fri Sep 11, 2009 11:26 am

We are working to transport 8 dogs from a kill facility in rural Appalachia to a no kill shelter in Salem Mass on Sep 19. The VA shelter is full and we desperately want to avoid euthanizing. These are all wonderful pets just waiting for the opportunity to be placed into loving forever homes. Thanks for any assistance!

If you can break this flight up into two legs, say Maryland to MA. I can do the second half. How large are these dogs and can any of them share a crate?

Not sure if this would help, but my son and I are traveling from Fayetteville, NC to Annapolis, MD on Oct 1. We'd be happy to pick up the dogs in Roanoke and take them to MD on Oct. 1st.

Sandy,
That would work for me. We have to find out if they can wait that long. I also need to get sizes and weights. I may not be able to take all 8.

Okay. This is my first time volunteering...how do we find out if they'll wait that long? Do I need to contact anyone?
Also, we probably won't be in Annapolis until the evening of Oct. 2nd. We're traveling to D.C. on Oct. 1 and spending the night. Then traveling to Annapolis on the 2nd.

Thanks,
Sandy

I'll be picking up a dog in Blacksburg VA on Saturday morning and headed for Boston. I may be stopping at Shenandoah Valley for another pickup on the way. I may be able to help. It all depends on their sizes and how many dogs I can fit. I'm waiting to hear from the Shenandoah rescue. I have a single engine Bonanza. Let me know.
