I recall one flight in my four-place Cardinal transporting eight pit puppies, four Catahoula young adults, two beagles and a GSD adult to a NJ no-kill shelter from my home base in Georgia. When passing though the Asheville Charlie, I offered greetings from "Cardinal 177Q and fifteen passengers"
. Pretty soon the whole ATC staff there, and all which followed, even Potomac and NYC, were aware. If there is a break in the radio traffic, controllers appreciate knowing they too make a difference in saving lives.
