why does PnP not remember me?

Postby davidtg on Sat Jan 02, 2010 6:45 pm

Hi, all --

I have repeatedly checked the "Log me on automatically each visit" box when logging in but I am never remembered. Any idea why?

It seems to remember me for about 24 hours.

Maybe the software was created assuming everyone would show up at least once a day? I don't know, just guessing.

It never remembers me, either. I always have to log in, every time, even though I, too, check that box.

I thought it was my old computer, running Windows 98, but my XP and Vista systems also produce the same results.

This has been a recurring issue with the open source software we're using.

Every time we play around with the cookie settings, we end up disabling one or more browsers. When it doesn't work correctly, one browser will simply not be able to log in.

The current settings seem to be the lesser evil. Everyone can log in, but some browsers will not keep the cookies between sessions.

Ah, well. I figured it was either a javascript hack or something funny like that. Ain't cookies wonderful? :-)

All seems to be working fine now. I've been kept logged in for a long time now. Whatever someone did, it worked!
