Introduce yourselves please!

Hey everyone,

Just since yesterday's announcement on various boards have prompted 20 members to register. Most found their way over from our old board but some are new.

Please take a minute and introduce yourselves, if you are a pilot, a rescuer, or a volunteer we would like to hear from you. Any thoughts or ideas on how to continue to move forward with our efforts are also welcome. Also, if you would like, please list the state you are in under your member profile. This way we can see what areas are greatly represented and other areas who may need some recruiting work

I would also like to invite you to check out the Photo Gallery and Success Story link on our web homepage.....some amazing stories there and it truly does show you what this program is all about.

My name is Chris, I am a Private Pilot in Everett, Washington and I saw a link to this site on the AOPA forums. I would love to volunteer in anyway I can, I don't own an aircraft but I am a club member at a Local FBO and may be able to rent a C-172 for a few hours or fly with another pilot and share expenses. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

My name is Liz, and I'm a pilot/flite instructor/professional pilot in Los Angeles.
I generally fly out of KSMO (Santa Monica) and have a C172 there. I also have access to other aircraft on occasion, if I needed to fly faster/further.
I am happy to fly any size pet and generally probably a range of up to 500 nm or so from KSMO.
I like the google map depicting the location of all the volunteers. How can I get on that map?
Happy to help in any way, whether it be piloting, picking up animals from shelters in a car, etc.

Welcome to the group, we are happy to see you here! The number of pilots joining continues to grow each day and that is life saving news for most of these animals in need!

If you would please, go to the Pilots Offering section of this forum and list your location so that we can keep the pilots list current for locations. Hopefully, Steve Foley ,one of the other pilots here, will add you to the google map he created to keep us all on track! Great idea Steve I have added the link to the google map on our website under the "Important Links" page. I am in awe when I look at the map and see all the volunteers who have come forward across the country, amazing!!

Hi everyone,

I recently read the online-article about Pilotsnpaws posted by AOPA and knew immediately I wanted to help. In addition to being a pilot, I am also a veterinary surgeon and may be able to offer the additional services of a veterinary technician, if needed.

Currently I fly out of Wings Field (KLOM), near Philadelphia. Unfortunately I don't own, but use a C172/G (SP) with glass. I'm currently ASEL and instrument rated with approximately 170 hours total. I'm in the midst of obtaining my commercial, mutiengine and hope to have that completed in the early new year (multi engine work is essentially complete, but I need to have 250 hours for the commercial). Eventually, I could offer a larger, faster and longer range craft. I'm available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays but would need notice - if possible - to make certain I'm not then on-call for the hospital. I'm willing to fly cross-country flights of up to 4 hours, depending on conditions. This doesn't mean that there must be a medical problem - healthy passengers are fine by me, but if there is medical need, I hope we can help. In fact if there is something that requires surgery, say a fracture, etc, before being transported to a new home, we would be pleased to help.

I'm happy to know that this organization exists. I've been talking quite seriously over the past year about starting a similar service but with a more medical need. Like Angel flight for children but utilize it for pets instead. So I hope I can help you in some way or at least provide another pilot option.

Hello All-
I believe that since your organization was just featured on AOPAOnline you will see your subscribership increase dramatically. That is how I found you, and I am happy to be joining. I hold a commercial pilot certificate – airplane single & multiengine land; instrument airplane. I don’t own a plane, but I’m active in a club based at the Orlando/Sanford International Airport (Florida). So I have access to a Cessna 182, and also a nicely IFR equipped Cessna 172. Both are pretty good cross country planes for a pilot accompanied by a flight attendant who prefers furry passengers. Depending on their weight and size, these four legged passengers could number up to 3 or 4. I also have two brand new, hardly ever used, extra large dog crates just taking up space in my garage attic. Let me know if I can help!

Great to see you here! I think you can finally put that crate to use! You are correct, we have had many new pilots join since the AOPA article came out. We have always felt that once pilots knew about us, they would come forward and have you ever!!

Thanks to all for joining and please list your information under the pilots board as well so that we can keep a list going. The google map is becoming heavily dotted with pilots across the country which is fabulous! This means that more animals will be saved from death and on their way to wonderful rescues and loving homes.....

I am a fairly new private pilot, having taken a small 20 year break to get the kids thru college (finally) and am in instrument training now. Just need to find a way to build up more hours and doing this in the process would be fantastic.

Think this is a great idea and something you will find ready volunteers for. Besides, what better way to make the flight something truly worthwhile.

As I posted on the other thread, I also consult with small businesses (start-up and operations) so contact me anytime if you have any questions related to this aspect of operations.

Hello All

My name is Sarah Case and I am professional pilot with Northwest Airlines. I am based in Minneapolis and fly all over the US.

Over the years I have hauled many, many dogs/animals in my private life as well as my professional life. As a kid I used to fly my dogs all over the place and throughout my life being associated with the airlines I have flown with my own dogs as well as several rescues in need of transport. In more recent years, I have traveled to various places with my doberman show/therapy dog.

It would be my pleasure to escort dogs/cats in need of transport. I will put my info on the pilot board and anyone who needs to send a dog/cat somewhere, please contact me. Sometimes they can travel with me in the cabin and sometimes they may need to go in the cargo hold ( and I can educate anyone on traveling in the cargo hold.....it's not the deep dark dungeon that some folks make it out to be).

This is an organization that is really needed and it is great to finally see it happen.
