Flying with mom and pups

If you have a flight with a mom/full-size dog and pups, what is the conventional wisdom about crating. To me, separating them (mom in a mid-large crate, pups in a smaller one) makes sense, but I would like to hear your opinion. I fly a C-172, if that matters.

Hi Grant,

I would definitely ask the rescue/foster who have been caring for them for their opinion. I have seen them transported together, Mom in one crate with pups in another, or pups in a crate and the Mom tethered. I do think it is always important that the Mom be able to see her pups. If she cannot, she may try and get to them.

Gather all the information you can and then make the best judgement call based on the observations of the foster.
