What is with all the caps lock?

Post by bkthomps » Fri Jan 14, 2011 3:19 pm

Can someone put some rules/guidelines around the caps lock usage on this site? It's like reading billy mays transcripts and I find it very hard to sort through the different listings to find something I can help out with.

Thanks!
Brian

Hi Brian,

Thanks for offering your help to those who post for transport assistance here!!

Each individual choooses to use caps or not, we have no control over that. Whoever is doing the typing makes the choice it is not something the board initiates. Perhaps people who use that practice will consider your request to change to upper and lower case.

If you are searching for transports to assist with, there are easier ways then scrolling through the board. As a pilot, you have the option under your profile page to set a nautical mile distance you desire for your flight range. When a request is made to the transport board that encompasses your route, an automatic email will be generated to you letting you know that there might be a mission you can volunteer for. In the auto notification is a link that will take you directly to that request on the board where you can reply to it. Or, you can use the Pilot Tool feature that is on the homepage of the website,
http://pilotsnpaws.org/pilot-tools/

or also under the Pilots guideline section,

http://www.pilotsnpaws.org/forum/viewto ... f=4&t=9572

You have the option to type in your airport ID and or total distance and a list of transport requests will come up for you to scroll through.

If you, or any other new pilots need crates for your planes, please send me an email privately to [email protected]

Thanks!
Debi

Yeah, I am really trying to help here but there are so many stickies and *IMPORTANT PLEASE READ FIRST* it is extremely difficult to navigate this site, the moderators should be putting some control on standardization and controlling the use of caps lock, etc

plenty of successful message boards out there as examples, you want to limit the number of sticky threads in the forum and also limit the use of red on blue fonts as it is really a strain on the eyes

We are working on all of this as we speak. Growing pains have caused the board to become crowded and we are organizing things in order to help you find what you need in one location. Regarding the red type on blue, sorry it is difficult for you to read but we need those postings to stand out. If we make them black, few people will notice or read them, at least that has been our experience. Thank you in advance for your patience.
