Doesn't Denver have a law against keeping Pit Bulls?
I thought I remembered reading a post looking to get some dogs to Colorado, but they specifically wanted to avoid Denver because the dog would be killed if caught in Denver.

Hi Steve
Denver and Aurora, CO both have bans in place BUT a pitbull can be driven THRU the area as long as it is in a crate and is not taken out of the vehicle within the city limits. Hopefully this pup is going to an outlying city ;0)

Did you have any luck with these two? I could fly them the last part of the trip into CO.
