New to PNP

Hi everyone...I just joined PNP...I am an instrument rated pilot in Austin, Texas flying out of GTU...I have my own plane, a 2008 Turbo Skylane (N188JW)...I have had dogs most of my life but just adopted my first rescue, a miniature pincher, Sawyer...i decided to join this organization to help other dogs get forever homes like Sawyer now has...i work a lot but that also give me flexibility in my schedule...i am looking forward to my first rescue flight...

Welcome to the wonderful world of PnP! PnP is the best use I have ever made of my airplane. I recently adopted one of my passengers but can't do that too often or my house would fill up fast. If you ever need contacts in the Kansas City area, feel free to contact me. Sometimes all it takes is knowing a fellow pilot who can help with a leg to make all of this work. I can guarantee that you will love PnP missions. Besides, the dogs never complain about the landings. These little guys need our help. Thanks for jumping in.....Jim

I have found everybody involved here, volunteers, fosters, rescue workers and best of all, new moms and dads, are just great to work with. Sometimes they won't understand things like weather minimums but have always been anxious to learn more about our end of this. You are going to meet some great people and most important, help those who can't help themselves.

Welcome to the site. Your first few PNP flights may be a bit confusing, it normally just works like a few emails back and forth. A rescue will want a flight from say Austin to Dallas. You can make the flight, so you let them know you're interested. Typical questions to ask (you add questions to your list the more flights you make) are-how big are the dogs? What size crates do you have or should you bring? Any special needs? Who to meet in Dallas? Get contact information for everyone, show up when you say you will, pick up the dogs, make the flight and drop them off. Normally they dogs love the sound of the engine and fall asleep, other timid dogs take a while but finally ease up a bit.
