Mapping a request

Post by Pa28-140 » Sun Jun 17, 2012 6:12 pm

Hey folks! Is there a way to view a request then map it WITHOUT seeing all of the pilots and volunteers on the map? I can individually click off each pilot/volunteer, but it would be helpful if I could just see the route on the normal city map to get an idea of options. Thanks!

Hey Jim, our tech advisors are looking into this. Not sure if it can be done or not since the system loads all zip codes. We will post a reply once we have one :-)

Thank you! It would be nice to just get the basic map without volunteers, then be able to select a category (pilots/ground/etc) as needed. Thanks again.

I've been thinking on this (as I am sure you have) and had a thought. When you map a request the complete list of PILOTS and VOLUNTEERS is displayed with the option of "individually" deleting them. It would be nice if you could select or deselect pilots/volunteers or all of them. If you wanted to see nothing, deselect ALL. If you wanted only pilots or volunteers you could select or deselect them as a group. As always, thanks for considering.

One (reasonably) quick external option is to use the website http://www.zip-codes.com/distance_calculator.asp. It will display a straight-line graphic between two points input as ZIP codes. It also displays a driving route map between the two points, but that part can be easily ignored if desired. It helps when trying to visualize a route, when one doesn't know on first glance if a particular city is in east Texas or west Texas. :?

All, I am pleased to share with you that we have been able to establish exactly what you asked for Jim, the straight line track option!

When you open a transport request and click on Mapping Options under the subject line of the request, one of the choices is now the flight map minus the pins for contact.

Hope this works well for all of you who prefer the pins to be removed. Looking at the request map only does show the routes but there are so many and they are intertwined so often times difficult to discern.

Give this a try and send us feedback please.
