Accomplished-English Setter- BurlingtonNC 27215 to Mt Holly

Post by InKindnessToAnimals » Tue May 12, 2009 4:33 pm

Cooper, our 2 yr old English Setter rescued from a gassing facility needs transport from Burlington, NC (KBUY) to Mt Holly, NJ, 08060 to his approved forever home. Cooper is very friendly, up to date on vaccinations, around 48 lbs, neutered, and is awaiting his new family. Can you help Cooper get to his forever home? He has been moved around quite a bit and would love to see this sweet boy findly reach his destiny. Please email Rhonda Beach at [email protected] or you may call 336 583 4189.

Good afternoon, Rhonda.

I'm a great lover of English setters -- we had one for thirteen years, and he was the great friend of my youth -- and I might be able to help you with this, but this weekend does not look good and it's hard for me to take time off during the week.

What's your time frame for this transfer?

Hi David,

I sent an email and was wondering what time schedule works best for you? Of course the sooner the better, but we can be somewhat flexible. When we get Cooper to his destiny, of course that opens a spot to save another in danger. His family lives in Marlton, NJ. Whatever airport you perfer to fly in to would be fine. When could you likely do the transport weather permitting?

Many thanks for your reply.. Cooper is wagging his tail ready for the flight! woof woof!! : ) He really is the sweetest boy!!

Rhonda

If this transport happens next Saturday, I might be able to help with it as well. From Burlington, NC, to Marlton, NJ is probably two legs, at least. If DJK can get Cooper to someplace in northeastern or eastern VA, then I can take him to Marlton, NJ from there.

Probably the best airport for Marlton would be South Jersey Regional (KVAY), or Flying W (N14).

Tom -- Would you be able to meet me at Carroll County (DMW) or Frederick, Maryland (FDK) instead? That would save me a stop, since I'm hoping to combine this with delivering a cocker to DMW and I'm based at FDK. If not, I could meet you at HEF, CJR, or whatever the new designation for Warrenton is (it used to be W66 - HWY?). RMN would also be manageable.

I had actually planned on running Cooper all the way up to PNE; I like flying long legs. But this would open up the possibilities for coordinating it with some other rescues.

I work in Burlington and fly out of a small airstrip locally. There is a good possibility we could help out next week, weather permitting as always. This weekend is looking very wet, but if the weather is good next Saturday I'm thinking we can help. I will touch base with my wife, but you may contact me at my work email at [email protected] if you need me. We'd be willing to fly to somewhere further up into VA to complete the southern leg.

DMW works just fine, FDK works as well. So I will leave the choice of airports in MD up to you.

Best,

Tom

Okay, it looks like a go for Saturday May 23, weather permitting. David will fly from Burlington to KDWM, and I will take Cooper from KDWM to KVAY or Flying W (which ever works best for the receiving family). And perhaps Daniel could be our back up pilot for the southern leg.

We should probably exchange cell phone numbers and tail numbers. If you send your contact information to me via private email, I will compile them into a list and email it back to everyone. Also, Rhonda, would you send me the receiving family's contact info? I should get in touch with them to discuss the details of the pickup.

Tom
