Re: Shelter dog needs ride to foster home! 2 legs?

I routinely fly between Beaufort, SC and the Florence, SC area (northward on Friday evenings), so I could possibly help for the first leg up into North Carolina. It would have to be over a weekend due to my military duties in Beaufort. We would be willing to foster the dog overnight so that any transfer to the second leg could be done during the daytime. (ie: I'd stop at my regular base, 51J, Friday pm and then continue the leg the next day.) I'll stand by for another pilot to chime in to see if a transfer point can be found. As far as the dog, would a cage or harness be recommended? Email contact is best at [email protected]. I'll watch for responses. Hope this helps. (Obviously this weekend is a no-go due to the weather!)

Thanks for the offer, George. I would recommend crating him during the flight but at the home, he should be fine. I'd like to get him flown out sooner than a week so maybe I can get an offer for flight during the week. I will definately keep your offer in there however. I have a couple of pilots I've worked with out of Baltimore that might be able to take the second leg (I'll email them).

Karon _ I could pick up the dog somewhere in the Richmond, VA area and bring it to Ft. Meade, MD - not far from Randallstown. Can do this next week either Monday or Thursday, weather permitting,

Thanks, Gary. I also have a pilot (Kevin Ford) that has offered to fly from Baltimore to Roanoke Rapids, NC. So I just need that middle leg filled.

If Kevin can do that for you, that's great. Might make the middle leg a little easier to fill. His home base is a little closer to Randallstown than mine. If that doesn't work out, I'll be available also over the weekend - Fri, Sat or Sunday.

We really need to get this dog moved. He is getting more stressed and growly as the days go by. Sunday looks like a decent day to fly! Please someone offer the middle leg!

George,
I am going to try for ground transport starting Saturday morning from your home to Roanoke Rapids for pickup by Kevin (hopefully) or to Richmond. This dog must get out.

Karon, sorry about the silence, can't gEt this while at work most days.

I'm willing to make that leg myself from Florence to Roanoake Rapids or maybe a bit closer to me. Right now the weather is starting to look poor for part of the weekend. So I don't think the ground transport is necessary yet, unless the weather keeps us all grounded. I'm able to fly when the weather is poor but have to avoid any icing or thunderstorms!

For now, I am planning on a Friday evening departure from the Beaufort County airfield on Lady's Island. Can the shelter get him to me for that? I'd expect around a 5pm time.

Go ahead and call me at 843-610-5727 so we can flesh out the details.

Glancing at the forecast, we might need to hold him at my place for Saturday and make the trip to NC on Sunday morning.

We can get this done, no worries, just have to be flexible I guess!

I will wait for your call. Please call anytime.
