MORRISTOWN, NJ – On Sunday, July 7 at around 5 p.m., 15 puppies and dogs landed at the Morristown Airport, marking the beginning of their second chance. Dirk van der Sterre, Owner/Manager of FTC FBO at Morristown Airport, witnessed an airplane transport come in to his airport on May 16. That day he met Home for Good Dog Rescue volunteers as well as the pilots who work through a non-profit group called Pilots N Paws (pilotsnpaws.org).  Home for Good Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue with an office in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. Since its inception in August 2010, HFGDR has adopted about 2,000 dogs into loving homes.

Needless to say, Dirk was inspired by what he saw and wanted to get involved to help Home for Good Dog Rescue save more innocent lives. He and his wife, Jill, knew they would be flying their jet from Florida back to New Jersey on July 7, so they contacted HFGDR and offered to stop in Georgia to help transport dogs in need. On a recent trip to Georgia with three Junior Ambassadors (16 years old), Home for Good Dog Rescue saved about 100 puppies and dogs from euthanasia. The van der Sterre’s jet transport that landed in New Jersey this past Sunday had fifteen lucky puppies and dogs aboard, all who were saved on Home for Good’s trip to Georgia in June.  Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Dirk and Jill van der Sterre, FTC FBO at Morristown Airport and Majestic Jet in Florida for donating toward the flight costs, these dogs were given their second chance at life. The rest of the dogs saved on HFGDR’s trip are scheduled to come to New Jersey in the coming weeks.

  1. Jim Taylor says:

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME- IN EVERY WAY!!! Please help spread the word and good works by (1) offering a fuel discount for P&P pilots; and (2) putting flyers up in your FBO telling the P&P story and how every pilot can participate.

In selling aircraft over the course of 3 decades, I’ve learned most pilots are animal owners and lovers. So why not make some avgas or jet fuel make a difference in some lives.

    Thanks Dirk!
