Well, they can with the help of Pilots N Paws, a nonprofit organization that helps facilitate connections between those willing to rescue, shelter or foster animals and volunteer pilots or plane owners willing to transport them.
Pilots N Paws worked with the New Jersey-based Home for Good Dog Rescue to bring 16 dogs — a litter of 8 Aussie/lab mix puppies, three other puppies and five adult chihuahuas from a hoarding situation — from South Carolina to a foster home waiting for them in New Jersey.
The dogs arrived at Morristown Municipal Airport Thursday.
New foster “mom” Joanne Mullen welcomed the dogs after they were flown in by pilot Nick O’Connell (an earlier leg of the trip was flown by pilot Keith Decker.
The dogs “each have various issues, but Joanne is a wonderful woman who has the space, time and resources to provide them with a great life. We are lucky to have found her,” Jackie Bucuk of Home for Good Dog Rescue wrote in an email to NJ.com. A few years ago, Mullen took on another two dogs — mother and daughter China and Doll.
