Johnny …. Now Lemmy…the boxer sat in the Ramona shelter (San Jacinto, CA) for six weeks.  He was a great, well-behaved dog, but at 7 yrs and a lump on his hip … even a pure bred boxer misses out on adoption.  Thankfully, Rocket Dog Rescue in Oakland, CA (Director Pali Boucher, volunteer Sue, and fosters Kira and Denise offered to rescue him).  Special thanks to Melinda Townsend for driving Lemmy to the airport to catch his freedom flight.

And then “Foxy Roxy” was a black Aussie mix at Apple Valley, CA shelter that also got rescued off the euthanasia list. She was listed as “feral”, but shelter volunteers stated she was a “shy sweet dog”.  Fortunately, Karen Stromfeld of Pound To Pillows in Paso Robles , CA agreed to rescue Roxy.  Special thanks to John Breckinridge for driving Roxy to the airport to catch her freedom flight .

The flight came together quickly involving 2 legs, a pick at Apple valley, CA airport , by pilots John Rendall and Colin Rasmussen, then a meet up in Paso Robles Municipal airport to hand off Roxy to Karen and then Lemmy (boxer) to board his 2nd leg with pilot Chris Piety (Paso Robles to Santa Rosa, CA ) and both dogs were saved and went to their respective rescues.

Roxy is now in training to become a service dog in San Francisco, CA and Lemmy is in a loving foster home…and although his biopsy determined his mass to be cancer…he is receiving lots of love and will likely be cared for and loved more now than he ever was.

Thank you Pilots N Paws and rescues for teaming together and saving these deserving dogs from euthanasia.
