A Xmas Flight for CrisisDogsNC Rescue Miss Luna
Miss Luna, 12 pounds, 8 months old, a CrisisDogsNC rescue from Charlotte Mecklenburg shelter, celebrated her first Christmas in mid-air. On December 25, the dachshund puppy took off from Concord Regional Airport in pilot Eric Bellsey’s Mooney for a “Freedom Flight” relay that would bring her to her new home in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
Luna had taken her first “Freedom Ride” a few weeks earlier, from Charlotte to Chapel Hill. But her puppy enthusiasm overwhelmed the adopters, and she was returned to CrisisDogsNC. Fosters Mark and Cheryl Shue opened their home and Luna spent her time doing zoomies in the backyard and shared Xmas eve in the company of the Shue family dogs.
In her Santa hat, Luna, by now a travel pro, relaxed on the plane’s back seat, then took a break in Clemson, awaiting the arrival of pilot Barbara Bowman’s Cessna Skylane. Another smooth flight put her into the arms of her adopter.
