Busy Couple of Weeks
Derek Heikes and Kim Bemis sent in the following missions: The last couple of weeks have been busy for Kim and I. This week we picked up a special needs kitty on his way up to SNAP Cats. He was super sweet.
We brought a friend’s daughter, Gabby, along for the ride. Gabby is a sophomore in high school who volunteers at a local animal shelter. Kim wanted to introduce her to the Pilots N Paws experience. We met with another pilot, Kurt Selbert, who would finish out the cat’s journey from Bakersfield to NorCal.
The prior week we flew up to Sacramento to get Ricardo, a big friendly Doberman who was on a journey to Camarillo. It’s a good thing he was friendly as the people sending him didn’t have a crate, or leash, or anything for him.
But Ricardo was just happy to get settled into the plane and spent the vast majority of the flight with his head resting on my shoulder.
Big thanks to all involved, from people like Michelle Aylward who coordinates a ton of these flights, to Darryl with SNAP Cats, to those who shelter, foster, and drive these animals to the airport. And as always to Pilots N Paws for being the catalyst that brings us all together.
Petmate and Subaru are proud sponsors of Pilots N Paws!
