Mission 61

March 9th 2018. Todd and Tim started our 61st Pilots N Paws Rescue at Moontown (3M5) airport.  Weather was a cold 26 degrees with frost on the wings. Todd and Tim had to warm the engine and wait for frost to melt before they could take off.  Todd and Tim took off to Walker county airport to meet Tracy Raburn. There was a pregnant mom mix named Misty, litter of 6 red and black mixes, and 2 spotted puppies named Betsy and Ross.

After loading the airplane with all passengers, Todd and Tim took off to Bainbridge, Ga airport. Misty was scared of crates so she rode in the back seat with her head on Todd’s lap most of the flight. Weather was clear skies and a smooth ride for all passengers.

Todd and Tim met with Jim Berger who flew up from Fort Myers.  He would transport the nine dogs to Sanford, Florida for their last leg of flying.

As with all freedom flights, this one was particularly complex and chaotic (organized chaos), but ended very successful without much deviation or delay.  We appreciate how hard PilotsNPaws staff, the volunteers, and the flight crews work facilitating constantly changing dogs, destinations, times, and weather.

Unfortunately many others aren’t as lucky, and as you all know, the only answer to this devastating issue is to spay/neuter/rescue. All of these dogs are really sweet, and they deserve to be curled up on the living room floor at night not tossed out like trash.
