Husky Rescued from the Woods

Husky Rescued from the Woods

This poor Alabama Husky was living in the woods with her tiny babies. One of the pups had issues, and momma Sadie took the pup to a local house and met with a lady. The lady contacted a local rescue to help. The rescue went and found the rest of the babies back in June or July, but they left momma Sadie. It isn’t clear if she wasn’t near the babies at the time of if they never tried to catch mom. The local lady did leave food out & she did come back & visit & eat.

Months later, just before the hurricane was going to hit near Mobile, a wonderful rescue friend (Bridgett) found out the story and was livid that mom was left behind to fend for herself.  The husky was in horrible shape.  She had mange and was very skinny.  At this time the storm was only few days away. So Kathy at Kaleidoscopes K9 Rescue in OH was contacted.  They were devastated once they heard the story and saw her pics. They said YES we will take her!

Bridgett contacted the local lady that was near Sadie to try to help catch her so they could get her safe and get her the medical help she needed. Bridgett’s son, Brandon even went to help! They caught her! The plan was set! She was sent to the vet to get the help she needed! FINALLY!

Her mange was bad, and she was put on antibiotics and many special medicated baths to help her. Then her skin broke out with yeast infections from the meds. The vet suggested shaving her (which shouldn’t be done to huskies) being her hair was falling out in clumps. After 2-3 weeks of being treated her flight was set!

It took several helpers and 4 legs to get Sadie to her rescue.  Brandon delivered Sadie to the first pilot, and Laura and Roger made the pickup in Ohio.  The 4 legs for the 4-legged passenger included:

1. St Elmo, AL (2R5) to Tuscaloosa, AL (TCL)- flown by Jim R.

2. Tuscaloosa to Sparta, TN (SRB) – piloted by Michael

3. Sparta to Morehead, KY (SYM) – with pilot Jan

4. Morehead to Wadsworth, OH (3G3)- the last leg by Jurian was completed only because he was so eager to help that he  got his work shift covered
