based on this week's weather and Nina being out of town from 17-24 Oct, it looks like we should aim for the week of the 24th to get this transport done.

Good news, all - we received the FWS permit to transfer the bird.

So any day that is good for the weather for you will work for me - possibilities include:

1. Tomorrow (10/15) from Plattsburgh (I have to be up there ~11am), Lake Placid ~8:30am, or Saranac Lake/Lake Clear after 3pm

2. Saturday anytime

3. Sunday from Albany ~9isham (I'll be driving south that day).

4. 10/24 or after from SLK, LKP, PBG, or Glens Falls, depending on the day (my work scheduled is variable).

5. Alternatively...I can ask a friend of mine to get it to SLK or LKP while I'm gone (10/17-10/23) if that works out better for you.

Another possibility...the flight could be broken into 2 days if needed. The bird will be fed before I take it to the airport, and it could stay in the kennel at one pilot's house overnight. Then it could get a morning flight to Green Bay, and would be fed again shortly after arriving at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. Raptors only eat once a day, so it would be fine, and the bird is in very good condition.

Please let me know what you want me to do.
Thanks!
~Nina

I would be available next week on Monday (10/25), Thursday (10/28), or Saturday (10/30). I could meet at 3CK around 4PM central time if that works for the other legs.

Sorry for the delay in responding - I'm just getting back to internet again.

Pretty cloudy & rainy here in NY today. Thurs looks better, but weather in Green Bay looks showery. Sat looks wet in SLK, but just cloudy in Green Bay.

If we choose Thurs, I can do either SLK before 8am, or PBG at ~9:15am (I have to be up in Plattsburgh for a meeting at 9:30).

Please let me know when & where to bring the bird, depending on how you are comfortable with the weather.

Thanks!
~Nina

Thursday would be great for me. We will have to keep an eye on the weather. I can no longer do Saturday but Sunday would work for me if weather on Thursday is bad.

Hi all,

The weather looks reasonably good here in NY and a bit cloudy in Green Bay tomorrow.

Is it possible to do schedule the flight for the hawk tomorrow? I can bring it to either SLK or PBG in the morning.

Or would you prefer to wait for another day?
Thanks,
~Nina

I am very sorry but I won't be able to make the southern Michigan to 3CK trip this week. I would be available again only Nov 6, so if this trip I still needed then please let me know.

Tomorrow (Thursday) works for me, weather depending. Plane is located at KLPR just west of Cleveland this week.

So...if tomorrow works for you all with the weather & time (except Skydogcaptain), it looks like we have:

1. 121mhz = SLK to KLPR
2. mrawatson = KLPR to ???
3. abiwenga or tomprout = ??? to KGRB

121mhz, Allie (abiwenga), and tomprout, will this work? Or do we need to wait for skydogcaptain to do the leg from KIRS to 3CK?

Tomorrow, I can bring the bird to either SLK or PBG in the morning, whichever is better for 121mhz.

If tomorrow doesn't work, Friday also looks good here weather-wise, but it sounded like some of you weren't available then. So possibly Sunday, depending on the weather?

Thanks,
~Nina

Hi Nina—I’ll hopefully be flying the leg with Dan (121mhz)(I’m a huge raptorphile!). What is the max altitude the bird can handle? I know they migrate as high as 4,000-5,000’.
