Flying Chili

Chili was a gentle seven-month-old pittie who was found shot and dumped in a field southwest of Houston, TX.  He was picked up by a shelter and was scheduled to be euthanized.

Somehow, his plight was discovered by Paula Pinell in Greenville TN, who decided to adopt him. Paula had a local rescue group pull Chili and get him to a vet for neutering and treatment: he was flea-infested, heartworm positive, had whip and hook worms, a yeast infection in his ears and was riddled with shotgun pellets. When he recovered and was ready for the trip to northeastern Tennessee, transport coordinator extraordinaire Lynn Snyder posted a transport request to Pilots N Paws.

On May 30, 2016, Memorial Day, foster Carol Marks delivered Chili to Pearland Regional Airport & FBO in Houston for the first of four legs. Chili had a full flight crew in N20223 (Wade Roberts, another pilot, Andy Goodreau, and his friend Miriam). 223 flew to Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzalez, LA to connect with New Orleans, LA pilot Owen Bordelon and his friend Alice Furr (who is finishing up her private pilot requirements) for a flight to Louisville, MS. They connected with first-time Pilots N Paws pilot Gavin Buttenhoff for a leg to Cleveland, TN. Pilot Janice Pelletti boarded Chili for his final leg to Bristol, TN and a warm forever homecoming.

How wonderful for all these great volunteers. PnP is the greatest.

  2. Paula Pinell says:

Chili is such a sweet, loving dog. My dogs were a little testy with him in the initial meeting and he was very non threatening and passive. We love him!
