How Pilots Transported 40 Cats!
In February, Derek completed his 102nd Freedom Flight, helping move 40 cats from Yucca Valley to Visalia in California. It definitely took a village to get this accomplished! Lynn (from the rescue) worked tirelessly with several pilots to coordinate 3 or 4 planes to get all of these cats to their destination. After multiple weekends and scheduling failures, it eventually worked out to do the trip in the middle of the week. The night before the trip, Derek was able to recruit one of his friends to help with the transport. Funnily enough, his friend then got one of his pilot friends to help with the trip! Through word of mouth, two new pilots were recruited to help save these cats! The trip happened without any surprises, and the cats are now safe and sound in Visalia.
A huge thanks to:
- Pilots: Derek, Randy, and Dimitrii
- Kim, who managed to stack the 40 crates in the airplanes
- Copilots: LJ and Kanoa
- Rescuers: Ketrena and Aubrey
- Lynn, the Pilot-Wrangler/Coordinator
Thank you to everyone else involved with this trip to save these 40 cats. If you are interested, Derek made a highlight reel of the flight that you can watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/wDEv0Q3jD1w
“Thank you, Pilots N Paws, for giving me a continued reason to fly, and way to give back.”-Pilot Derek
