PNP Pilots Todd & Mary’s Hurricane Dorian Relief Flight

September 7th Todd and Frank started our 72nd Pilots N Paws Rescue at Guntersville airport (8A1).  Airplane was loaded with hurricane Dorian supplies from some local folks here in Huntsville. After a few hours delay with aircraft problems they finally took off to Walker County (KJFX) to meet Tracy Raburn.  Weather was a little hazy and warm departing from Guntersville. They loaded a lab mom with her 6 puppies; litter of 4 puppies weighing 10 pounds each, a single black pup. After loading the airplane with all passengers along with all the hurricane supplies, Todd and Frank took off for Orlando Florida (KORL).  On departure, Walker County weather was getting hotter and hazy with a few bumps. Everyone on board took a little nap for most of the flight. They transferred the pups to Save A Life Rescue. This rescue is based out of Orlando.

Todd and Frank loaded the airplane with more supplies and took off to Titusville where they spent the night. Early next morning Frank, Jeff and Todd flew to Treasure Cay to drop off supplies. Todd stayed and walked the island, took pictures and assessed the animals in need situation. While Frank and Jeff flew back to Orlando and loaded the airplane with another 1,000 lbs of supplies.

As with all freedom flights, this one was particularly complex and chaotic (organized chaos), but ended very successful without much deviation or delay. They were able to save dogs and help with delivering supplies to a much desperate Treasure Cay folks.  We appreciate how hard Pilots N Paws staff, the volunteers, and the flight crews work facilitating constantly changing dogs, destinations, times, and weather.

Unfortunately many others aren’t as lucky, and as you all know, the only answer to this devastating issue is to spay/neuter/rescue. All of these dogs are really sweet, and they deserve to be curled up on the living room floor at night not tossed out like trash.
